Serengeti Park ( a kmq 14.763 area formed by plains and hills) offers hospitality to the biggest group of wild herbivore in the world, among its savannas, characterized by umbrella-shaped acacia trees.
Huge gnus, zebra and gazelle herds move all year long, following the seasonal cycles to search for water and food.
The big predators move around them: lions, leopards, cheetahs and hyenas.
The Park extends itself for a kmq 2600 wavy area, which is situated at south-east of Manyara lake, between the Masai plains and the bushes, along the river, from which it takes the name. It is the ideal habitat for all animal and vegetable species. Furthermore it is famous for its baobabs.
Ngorongoro crater is a place which is worth visiting when coming to Africa. The view from above is unforgettable and it is to be considered the most impressive scenery of Africa.
The crater vastness is impressive. Here live all the savanna animal species: monkeys, gnus, zebras, gazelles, antelopes, buffaloes, rhinoceroses, elephants, hippopotamus, lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas. The volcano, which is about to be extinct, is km 18 wide and mt. 650 high. On the base there is a lake, which is formed by some sources: this is the habitat for numerous water-birds species. The crater is surrounded by the Ngorongoro Conservation area, where there was a difficult approach of cohabitation between man and animal: the Masai live there with their herds, even if since 1979 they haven’t been able to plant the fields.
It is situated between the western rift an the alkaline lake. The park, which extends itself in a km. 325 area, offers five different eco-systems: equatorial forest, xerofilo forest with palms and acacia trees, the lacustrine environment with swamps and cane-brakes, the savanna with bushes, the volcanic sites with warm sources.
The coexistence of various environments reinforces the presence of different animal species: elephants, lions who are used to climb up the trees. Thousands of water-birds, among them pink flamingos, come here to reproduce by the side of the lake.
