Planning a Road Trip to Visit the Theme Parks in California
Planning a vacation that the kids will love, especially a road trip, can take some work. However, there are some destinations kids will love. One idea for a planning a road trip with kids is to visit the different theme parks in California. It probably isn’t possible for you to visit them all, but you can easily plan a vacation where you visit the five major attractions in southern California.
The first thing you will need to do is get a Southern California City Pass for each family member. This gives you a discount to admission into Disneyland, Sea World, the San Diego Zoo (or the San Diego Zoo Wild Animal Park), Universal Studios, and Disney’s California Adventure. You will have fourteen days to use these, and they allow 3 days at the Disney parks and one day at each of the other parks. The City Pass gives you a thirty percent discount over paying for each park individually.
You will need to figure out where you want to start and end your road trip. You will want to spend at least 3 days in Anaheim visiting the Disney attractions, and at least 2 days in San Diego and one day in Los Angeles. You might want to see what other attractions you are interested in while you are in those cities, since you do have 14 days in which to use the City Pass. There are lots of other great things to see and do.
Once you calculate how long you plan to stay in each city and what you would like to visit, you need to deal with choosing hotels. You can find a lot of good deals on the internet, just make sure that they will be convenient to the attractions you are visiting. You don’t want to spend a lot of your day driving back and forth from the hotel. If you are nearby Disneyland your hotel will probably have a shuttle you can take so that you can save money on parking and get a break from driving. Once you know where all you need to go, you can use a website for planning a road trip, like Yahoo! Trip Planner to get maps and directions from place to place.
