Bohemian trend comes home

If you’re in the market for new furniture, it’s time to go for some bohemian rhapsody, and that doesn’t mean the song.

The “boho chic” trend, which furniture company La-Z-Boy has dubbed “Bohemian Rhapsody,” was popular this fall in women’s fashion. Now, this combination of “old world” and “fashion-forward” style that some classify as a “hippie” look, is making its debut in furniture.

“Furniture often follows fashion, and in recent years trends are moving from the runway to the living room very quickly,” said Penny Eudy, product manager of upholstery for La-Z-Boy.

An array of different fabrics, including floral and ornate designs, to stripes and bold patterns is characteristic of the bohemian trend. The earthy colors that are commonly used – oranges, browns, golds, reds and grays – complement solid paint colors and accessories, according to La-Z-Boy.

The bohemian lifestyle is all about individualism, self-expression, freedom and choice. The selection of “free-formed, whimsical patterns” that the La-Z-Boy furniture has reflects this, according to the company.
