5 Ingredients to Make Mars Bar Slice

Chocolate, you gotta love it. Yumm…

There is so much said about what we should and should not eat. They say it about chocolate all the time. Many people love chocolate, yep just plain chocolate. It has less sugar than other types and contains more cocoa solids. Percentages as high as 60-70% show that the chocolate is much smoother and of the highest quality.

Most widely consumed is old fashioned Milk Chocolate. It is sweeter than plain chocolate with sugar and added vanilla.

White chocolate, contains only cocoa butter, milk, sugar and vanilla.

Chocolate drops melt much easier than plain, milk or white chocolate. They are more readily used in cooking or as decorations for cakes.

Adding vegetable fat makes the chocolate easier to melt and work with, although, because of the lack of cocoa butter it does not have the same eating quality as pure chocolate.

Enough of my ramblings, try this for the yummiest chocolate slice you have ever tasted.

Mars Bar Slice

4 x 60g Mars Bars, chopped up in little bits

100g unsalted butter, chopped roughly

3 cups Rice Bubbles, or you can try coco pops if you have them

200g milk or dark chocolate, chopped roughly

2 teaspoons vegetable oil

Lightly grease an 18 x 28cm slice pan. Line base and 2 long sides with baking paper, extending paper 2cm above pan edge.

In a medium saucepan, stir Mars Bars and butter together over a low heat for 4-5 minutes until melted

Place Rice Bubbles in large bowl. Blend in chocolate mixture until combined. Press firmly into prepared pan. Chill until firm.

Melt chocolate with oil in a heatproof bowl over a saucepan of simmering water. Spread evenly over slice. Chill until set. Using a hot knife, cut into small squares. Store in an airtight container in the fridge.
